Loose regulations allow questionable backgrounds of Japanese whisky ie. rice and barley shochu can be called whisky. “whisky” can be made from 10% whisky and blended with neutral spirit. Allowed to import pre-made whisky. Majority have no age statements. Aging in multiple types of oak.
